Are missing teeth causing you embarrassment and discomfort? Replacing missing teeth promptly is important because they can cause other serious oral health problems. There are other tooth replacement options, but dental implants are by far the first choice of dentists and patients alike. A permanent tooth replacement option, dental implants are stable, durable, and look like your natural teeth.
Tooth alignment issues are one of the biggest concerns with missing teeth. Your teeth are constantly moving, and surrounding teeth can eventually shift into the space created by a missing tooth. This causes your teeth to become misaligned, leading to other problems like premature wear, teeth grinding, fractured teeth, and more. Dr. Singh completed a postgraduate residency and received additional surgical training to help his patients by replacing missing teeth with natural-looking dental implants.
How Do Dental Implants Work?
First, it’s important to understand that a dental implant is made up of three parts: the implant, the abutment, and the crown (restoration.) The implant portion is a very small titanium screw that is surgically placed in your jaw by Dr. Singh. We use titanium because it is very strong and acts as the replacement root for your new tooth.
Next, we attach the abutment portion of the implant. This piece sits just above and below the gum line and provides a base to attach the crown. Finally, a dental crown will be created by Dr. Singh right in our Phoenix dental implants office, and you will leave with a beautiful new tooth.
Mini Dental Implants
Mini dental implants work in exactly the same way as regular dental implants. But they are much smaller and mainly used as a replacement for small teeth and to keep partial dentures from shifting. Because they are so small, a benefit of mini dental implants is that the entire procedure can usually be done in just one office visit. This means that after just one appointment, you will leave with a brand-new replacement tooth.
Dental implants not only change your appearance, but help preserve your oral health. They function just like your natural teeth, so you will be able to eat all the foods you love again. They are strong, durable, and the implant portion should literally last a lifetime, although the crown may eventually need to be replaced.
We are excited to offer this remarkable tooth replacement option to our patients. If you need one or more teeth replaced, please contact our Phoenix dentist office so we can tell you more about dental implants and how they can make your smile whole and healthy.
