How should I care for my new dentures?
Getting new dentures is a big investment, and it’s important to know how to care for them properly so that they’ll last for a long, long time. Caring for your new dentures is not complicated, and after we’ve completed the process, we’ll provide specific instructions for their care.
Following these simple steps can go a long way toward extending the life of your new dentures and keeping them looking their best:
- Do not use toothpaste or regular dental products. Your dentures need to be cleaned using only products specifically made for denture care.
- Don’t use hot water to rinse, clean, or soak your dentures as it may cause them to lose their shape.
- When your dentures are not in your mouth, place them in warm water to keep them moist.
- Handle your dentures carefully to avoid cracking or breaking them. When cleaning them, hold your dentures over a soft surface padded with towels to prevent them from slipping from your wet hands.
Scheduling Your Dental Cleaning
An important part of preserving your dentures is to maintain a regular routine of denture cleaning appointments and exams. During these appointments, Dr. Singh will check your dentures to make sure they are in good condition. If we see a problem, we can make a repair either in our office or send them out to our dental lab to fix them for you.
