Speaking: The best advice is – practice, practice, practice! Spend time while you’re alone to practice speaking. Read out loud, talk to yourself, talk to your dog – it will seem odd at first, but you’ll soon feel comfortable enough to interact confidently in social situations.
Living With Dentures
Eating: This can be a real challenge for a new denture-wearer, and we recommend starting off slowly. Until you get used to the way your dentures feel, cut your food into small pieces, and avoid any foods that you have to chew. Start off with soft foods like yogurt or ice cream, and gradually work your way up to more solid foods.
Everything Else: Isn’t it great just to know that you can smile and laugh again with confidence? Of course, it will take some adjustment, and at first you may feel your dentures slipping when you smile, sneeze, or cough, but this is completely normal.
The key is to be patient and don’t be hard on yourself. Your persistence will be rewarded, and in no time at all, you will feel comfortable with the way your dentures move in your mouth.
